Escaramujo Wines Bio Submarine Winery
Escaramujo Wines is a unique underwater winery, located on the Costa del Sol near the Strait of Gibraltar.
Here, we combine the passion for good wine with the charm of the sea, aging white, red and sparkling wines at depths of 20 to 30 meters. This process not only improves the taste, and evolves the wines, but also allows the marine life to decorate and enrich our bottles. A total synergy.
At Escaramujo Wines each bottle is a microcosm of marine life, offering a wine experience that connects the taste of wine with the essence of the sea.
White, red and sparkling wines carefully selected and produced in different regions of Spain, are subjected to this novel underwater process where they dance, mature, evolve and soften between the months of September to June, improving inside and exploding with life on the outside.
Thanks to the abundance of nutrients in these waters, and to the protection that the concession and the oyster farm offer, our bottles are colonized by a multitude of living beings, mainly Scaramujos, Polychaete worms, Macrophytic Algae, Sponges, Corals, Bivalves and more, who remain attached to the glass of the bottles or calcify on it. Also a multitude of different Starfish, Crabs of various types, Shrimps or Octopus grow next to our bottles protected by the protection provided by our breeding pots, a most striking symbiosis!
